Food for Love

Food for Love was originally founded by Rebecca Sarginson (Bex) and Louise Carney. Food for Love is a group of volunteers that provide a home-cooked meal to a family or individual that needs just little extra help.

Since then the volunteer group has become a well know community group, helping many families and individuals in the area. Food for Love personifies Forage & Feast's values around food bringing people together and a time when people need it the most.

Sustainability & Our Values

One of our core principles is operating in sustainable and ethical ways, ensuring we protect our wonderful region for future generations.

We aim to do this in a number of ways and acknowledge, like many others, that we are on a journey and not at our final destination. We always welcome ideas to make improvements on our sustainability mission; for the environment, our community and our economy.

Our core values are
at the core of what we do:

Manaakitanga

hospitality, sharing our place with people

Whanaungatanga

bringing people together, connection

Love of good food

quality, local, experience

Community

Tangata (people), family, unique stories

Our partners:

All of our partners have been carefully selected for their excellent produce and approach to growing, farming or producing, preferring sustainably farmed, free-range or organic produce whenever possible.

What we are doing?

Tiaki Promise

We are a proud supporter of Tourism New Zealand’s Tiaki Promise – to care and look after Aotearoa (New Zealand) for now and future generations.

Love Wanaka

Love Wānaka connects our visitors and visitor industry to projects of impact in our region, raising funds to support those who are tackling the climate crisis right here in Wānaka. We’re all about supporting a unique, localised response to the challenges and opportunities of high-volume visitation, with targeted and strategic funding to those who know best. We now donate $10 per guest to the fund to help support our local climate initiatives.

Community

Forage & Feast aims to be a business with purpose, shining a light on, and telling the stories of, our food and hospitality industry.

A percentage of all profits are given back to the local community via key food programs such as Food for Love and Community Networks’

Food Bank, as well as wanting to explore new initiatives to help our tamariki better understand the whenua and how to grow amazing local, fresh produce and turn it into something amazing.

As a new business, we are at the start of this exciting road to a better future and will be exploring other ways we can give back, including

looking at the Tourism Industry Aotearoa Tourism Sustainability Commitment and setting goals for the next 2-3 years.

Carbon and Waste

We are at the start of our journey to carbon zero by 2030 and have started to monitor and measure our emissions. We have invested in a hybrid van (for groups up to 7 people), we weigh our waste after each trip and actively look to reduce this. We are always searching for ways to be better in this space.
